FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Below you'll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about my services, pricing, software, and how I work. If there’s anything else you’re unsure about, feel free to get in touch.

Office Desk

What areas do you cover?
I’m based in Cornwall and work with clients both locally and remotely across the UK.

Do you charge by the hour or fixed fees?
I work on fixed fees, tailored to your business — whether you need monthly support or one-off help. Pricing is based on things like the size of your business and how many transactions you have.

Fixed fees give you clarity from the start, so you know exactly what you're paying — no hourly rates, no surprises. I review fees after the first three months so we can make sure they’re still fair for both of us based on the real workload.

Do you do Self Assessments?
Yes — I’m fully qualified to prepare and submit Self Assessment tax returns for individuals, sole traders and landlords.

Do you prepare year-end accounts?

Yes — I prepare Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets for sole traders and partnerships as part of their Self Assessment.

Do you work with Limited Companies?

Yes — although I primarily work with sole traders and landlords, I also provide bookkeeping for Limited Companies up to trial balance, including VAT and management accounts.
I don’t currently complete company year-end accounts or Corporation Tax returns, but I’m studying towards this and plan to offer it in future. Until then, company directors will still need a qualified accountant for the statutory filings.

Will you do all the work personally?
Yes — I do all bookkeeping and tax work myself.

If specialist input is needed, I may involve someone qualified and insured — but only with your knowledge. I’ll stay as your main point of contact.

Who I don't work with

To provide the best support for the types of businesses I specialise in, I don’t currently work with:

Hospitality • Property investment companies • Legal firms • Estate agents • Medical practices

Accountant

Do you use software?

Yes — I work with Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent amongst others. If you're already using one of those, that's great

If you’re not using any software yet, that’s absolutely fine. I can help you get set up — or if you'd rather not deal with it at all, you're welcome to just hand over your paperwork or a bag of receipts, and I’ll take care of the rest.

Why Choose Me

Reliable Services

I keep your records organised and accurate, so you’ve always got a clear view of your finances — and everything’s ready when you need it. With the upcoming Making Tax Digital changes, having well-kept books isn’t just useful, it’s essential. Whether you’re on software already or not, I can help you stay compliant and up to date.

Personal Approach

You won’t be passed from person to person — I handle all the work myself, so you’ll always know who you’re dealing with. I’ll explain things in plain English, keep it stress-free, and make sure you feel confident about where you stand.

More Than Just Bookkeeping

I’m a bookkeeper, which means I look after the day-to-day finances — whether that’s weekly, monthly, or as needed. I keep things organised and up to date so you’ve always got a clear view of your business.

If you’re a sole trader, landlord, or need a Self Assessment tax return, I can handle all of that too — not just the bookkeeping.

If you run a limited company, I can take care of the bookkeeping side, but you’ll need an accountant to file your year-end accounts and Corporation Tax return. The good news? When your books are accurate and in order, accountants often charge less!
